for wells and boreholes

A system for well drillers where the geological log is written down, not kept in your head

Drilling a well is the one service you sell before you know what is under the ground. That is exactly why it matters how precisely you wrote down what you agreed on beforehand.

A custom system for a well drilling company starts at 1 400 € and the first version is usually ready within a week. It runs the job with a price agreed per meter and with terms for harder rock, records the geological log during drilling, tracks the borehole equipment, and turns all of that into a billing you can back up.

Where the argument almost always starts

The per meter price holds until the first rock

The deal on what happens with harder rock is usually verbal, and when the extra charge comes up, everyone remembers it differently.

The geological log ends up on paper

Layers and depths get scribbled into a notebook in the truck and never make it back to the job.

Borehole equipment is priced in too late

Casing, gravel pack, pump and well head. The client is counting on the per meter price and the rest catches them off guard.

You do not know how much you made on a borehole

Diesel, drill bit wear and transport never get charged back to the specific job.

What a system like this includes

A job with the agreement written down exactly: price per meter, to what depth, what happens with harder rock, and what is included in the price. Writing the deal down at the order stage takes five minutes and saves the whole dispute at billing.

A geological log recorded during drilling straight from your phone, meaning the layers, depths and any water found. Beyond the billing, it is the document the client needs for the permit, and you have it with no extra work.

Borehole equipment as separate line items, meaning casing, gravel pack, pump, well head and piping. That way the client sees the full price from the start, not only after the work is done.

Costs tied to the job: diesel, drill bit wear, rig transport and crew hours. Only then does it show which boreholes pay off and which ones you drilled for free.

An archive of boreholes in the area with depths and logs. After a few years it is the most valuable thing the company owns, because during a site visit in the same village you can estimate the depth far more accurately than the competition.

  1. Deal and terms Price per meter, the depth limit, and what happens with harder rock.
  2. Drilling and log Layers and depths are recorded during the work, not after it.
  3. Borehole equipment Casing, gravel pack, pump and well head as visible line items.
  4. Billing Backed by the log and the written deal, not by memory.

What stands behind it

I have not built for a well drilling company yet. The closest is scaffolding rental with pricing from dimensions, transport of the gear and material tracking. What is not there is the geological log and the price conditioned on the rock, and that is exactly the core of your work; we would have to start with it.

The closest finished system is the one for scaffolding rental, where material, weight and price are calculated from the dimensions, and where transport of the gear is handled too.

While building it, the client Excel was taken apart first and 10 errors were found in it, the same ones he had been basing his quotes on for years. With boreholes the mistake is usually in what was never written down rather than in what was miscalculated.

Common questions

Can we get the document for the permit out of it?

The borehole log and its equipment yes, in the form we prepare based on what the office actually asks of you. You carry the professional responsibility for the content.

We also do heat pumps and ground collectors.

That is the same type of job, only with different equipment and a different purpose for the borehole. Most companies do both and it makes sense to keep it in one record.

There is no signal at the borehole.

Recording the log works offline and syncs later. Without that it would make no sense in the field.

How much does it cost?

From 1 400 €, with no per user fee. The first working version is usually ready within a week.

How often do you deal with an argument over the extra charge for harder rock?

Write to me about how you agree on it today and what you record from it. The agreement is written down on site, and at handover you have something to show. The first call is free.
