for dog salons and dog hotels
Booking for a dog salon that remembers the cut and the temperament
A dog salon runs on the same logic as a hair studio, except the client cannot talk to you and sometimes bites. That makes it even more important to know in advance who is walking through your door.
Booking for a dog salon or a dog hotel on your own website starts at 470 € and carries no commission per reservation. The owner picks the breed and the type of grooming, which sets the real length of the appointment, and the dog card holds the cut, the temperament, and the notes that decide whether you can work on your own.
What gets in the way the most in a salon like this
Bookings arrive in messages
You reply between clips, hands in the coat, or in the evening when the owner has already booked elsewhere.
The length of the appointment is a guess
A Yorkshire terrier and a Newfoundland are not the same. When the calendar does not tell them apart, the day falls apart on the second dog.
You remember the dog until you forget
Which one dislikes the dryer and which one needs a muzzle is information that has to be written down, not carried in your head.
The owner shows up in half a year
The dog needed a cut in two months. Without a reminder the interval stretches and you lose half your appointments.
What a system like this includes
Booking on your website with a choice of breed, size, and type of grooming, which sets the real length of the appointment. This is the most important part, because a badly estimated time on a large dog pushes the rest of the day out of line.
A card for the dog, not the owner: breed, coat type, last cut, temperament, what it cannot stand, and whether it had trouble with the dryer. At the next appointment anyone on the team can see it and does not have to figure it out on the fly.
A reminder for the next appointment based on the interval the breed actually needs. This is the only part of the system that directly raises income, because it brings back dogs that would otherwise arrive half a year late.
Before and after photos, which serve two purposes: the owner sees the result and you have a record of the state the coat was in when the dog arrived, in case someone complains.
For a hotel there is also occupancy by kennel and by day, including reservations over the holidays, when demand is highest and a booking mistake is the most expensive.
- Today: booking through messages You reply between dogs, guess the length of the appointment, and keep the dog temperament in your head.
- Later: a reservation on your website No commission, length set by breed, a dog card, and a reminder for the next cut.
What stands behind it
I have not built for a dog salon yet. The closest thing is a bike service with commission free booking and a card with history, which is the same skeleton. What is extra here is the appointment length derived from the breed and, for a hotel, kennel occupancy; we would go through both right at the start.
Booking with no reservation fee and a card with history is what I built for a bike service that paid roughly a thousand euros a year to a paid portal. After the switch that fee was gone and the reservations did not drop.
The same website put the business at an average position of 5.9 in Google and 3,125 impressions in the first month. For a salon that lives on customers from the neighbourhood, that is the more important half of the work.
Frequent questions
I work alone and handle two dogs at once.
That is exactly why it matters that the calendar knows the real length of grooming by breed. A system for one person is also cheaper, because it leaves out the team features.
We have both a salon and a hotel. Can it be in one?
Yes, and it makes sense, because the customer tends to be the same. The hotel is occupancy by day and kennel, the salon is appointments; both can sit in one calendar.
What if the owner does not show up?
A reminder cuts that down a lot and the freed slot can be offered on right away. With long appointments that adds up to a noticeable sum over a year.
Who owns the client data?
You do. It sits in your database, it can be exported, and no one puts a fee on your access to it.
