for drain cleaning

A system for drain cleaning that holds up during an emergency call-out at ten at night

This is a field where most jobs come in outside working hours and what matters is who picks up the phone and shows up. Paperwork has to stay minimal, but it still has to exist.

A custom system for a drain cleaning company starts at €1,400 and the first version is usually ready within a week. It records an emergency call-out with the agreed price including the after-hours surcharge, links the camera inspection footage to the address and issues an invoice with a payment QR right on the spot.

What actually gets in the way of a company like this

The price gets haggled over the phone at night

In the morning the customer remembers a different figure, and with nothing written down it turns into an argument at payment.

The camera footage ends up on a drive in the van

The customer wants to send it to the building manager or the insurer, and you are digging for it by date.

You do not know where you have already been

The same connection clogs for the third time this year, which is the best case for a repair, if only you could prove it.

Payment gets chased afterwards

On an emergency call-out you leave without the money and send the invoice when you have time.

What a system like this includes

A quick call-out entry with the address, the type of problem and the agreed price including the after-hours surcharge. It has to be doable in thirty seconds, otherwise at ten at night it will not get done at all.

Camera inspection footage tied to the address and to the job, with a link you can send to the customer. That is also the basis for the more expensive job, meaning the pipe repair.

A history by address that shows how many times the same connection has been dealt with. On the third call-out to the same place it is the strongest case for a permanent fix you can have.

An invoice with a payment QR issued on the spot so the customer pays right away. With emergency services the willingness to pay is highest the moment the problem is solved.

An overview of call-outs by time and type that shows how much work actually lands on weekends and nights. That is the basis for a pricing decision that otherwise gets made by guesswork.

  1. Phone call Address, problem and agreed price including surcharge, written down in half a minute.
  2. Call-out and work The tasks are recorded plus a camera inspection if needed.
  3. Footage to the address The video is tied to the place and can be sent to the customer.
  4. Payment on the spot An invoice with a QR code while the problem is freshly solved.

What stands behind this

I have not built directly for a drain cleaning company yet. The closest is Kotle CRM with call-outs, a register of sites and invoicing on the spot. What is extra here is working with video from the camera inspection, and that is something you can do well or badly depending on how much data actually gets created; we would go through it at the start.

The closest finished system is a CRM for a service company with technician call-outs, a register of sites and an invoice with a payment QR in one click.

The first working version there was built in 3 hours, because we first broke down how the company actually works. With an emergency service that is exactly what matters most, because a system that slows people down will not get used at night.

Common questions

Where would the camera videos be stored?

In storage you pay for by volume, not inside the app. With video that is the only sensible route, and it also means you can send the customer a link instead of a file over email.

We have contracts with residential building managers.

That is the ideal case, because a history by address is exactly what a building manager needs. A monthly overview of call-outs can be sent automatically.

We also do trenchless pipe repairs.

That is a bigger job with a quote and stages. What matters is that it grows out of the camera inspection, so it makes sense to keep both in one system.

How much does it cost?

From €1,400, with no per-user fee. Further development from €330 a month with no lock-in.

How many call-outs went unpaid for you this year?

Tell me how many call-outs you have a month and how many of them fall outside working hours. After that every call-out shows whether it is paid, without leafing through a pad of dockets. The first call is free.
