for tattoo studios
Booking for a tattoo studio, where the deposit is not an awkward question
Tattooing is the one service where a single session eats the whole day. A no-show does not mean a lost hour, it means a lost day, and that day cannot be won back.
Booking for a tattoo studio on your own website costs from 470 EUR and carries no commission. An enquiry arrives as a structured request with the motif, size and placement, the deposit is taken with a payment button the moment the date is confirmed, and long sessions are booked with the right length blocked out.
What costs the studio most
Enquiries come in as messages with images
Thirty conversations at once, half of them go nowhere, and you reply between clients.
The deposit is never asked for, because it feels awkward
Then the client skips an eight hour session and the whole day is gone.
Session length is guessed wrong
A small motif and a full sleeve are not the same, and when the calendar cannot tell them apart, the day falls apart.
Designs and references get lost
The images sit in messages, the design on a tablet, and after three months nobody can piece it together.
What such a system includes
A structured enquiry on the website: motif, size, placement, references and the preferred artist. That moves half of the back and forth out of messages and into a form you can read and price quickly.
A booking with a real session length based on the scope, including multi part projects split across several sessions. A calendar that cannot do this is useless for tattooing.
A deposit taken with a payment button or QR code when the date is confirmed. When it is part of the process rather than a personal question, clients treat it as normal and no-shows almost disappear.
A client card with designs, photos of finished work and healing notes. On a multi part project this is the only way to pick up exactly where you left off half a year later.
A website that shows the portfolio by style and by artist. In this trade the client chooses by the work, not by the price, so the portfolio is the sales tool itself.
A waiting list for a freed up slot. On long sessions dates get cancelled months ahead and there is always someone who would start right away; without a list that window is simply lost.
- Enquiry through a form Motif, size, placement and references in one place.
- Pricing and a date Session length by scope, not by a rough guess.
- Deposit Taken at confirmation, so a no-show stops being a problem.
- Session and portfolio A photo of the finished work goes to the card and the website.
What stands behind it
I have not built for a tattoo studio yet. The closest I have is a bike service with commission free booking, a card with history and photos of the work, which is the same backbone. What is extra here is the deposit at booking and multi part projects split across sessions; we would walk through both at the start.
I built commission free booking and a card with history for a bike service that was paying a portal roughly a thousand euros a year. After the switch to its own booking, that fee was gone.
The same website reached an average position of 5.9 in Google and 3,125 impressions in the first month, with 76 percent of visits coming from mobile. In tattooing the mobile share is even higher.
Common questions
There are three of us and each has a different style.
That is common. Each artist has their own calendar, their own portfolio and their own prices, while the client picks the artist by the work they see.
We do not want anyone booking without a consultation.
And they should not. The form is an enquiry, not a confirmed booking; you confirm the date only once you both know what is going to be done.
How is the deposit handled if the client cancels in time?
You set the rules yourself, for example a refund when they cancel more than a week ahead. What matters is that the rules are written up front and are not up for argument.
How much does it cost?
A website with booking and a portfolio from 470 EUR, with no commission and no booking fee.
How many full days did you lose this year?
Tell me how many enquiries you get a month and whether you take deposits. The deposit and the slot sit in one calendar, and a gap left by a no-show shows up straight away. The first call is free.
